PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle capable of increasing effect by an automatic stop function (idling stop function) of an engine.SOLUTION: When a prescribed automatic stop condition is established during forward traveling of a vehicle, an engine 2 is automatically stopped (IDS). After the automatic stop of the engine, the engine 2 is restarted and recovered from IDS (Step S27) in a case when a preceding vehicle does not exist within a prescribed distance ahead of the vehicle 1 (NO in Step S24), or a case when the preceding vehicle exists within the prescribed distance ahead of the vehicle 1, and the preceding vehicle is accelerated (YES in Step S25) at a time when a brake is shifted OFF. On the other hand, the engine 2 is not restarted, and IDS is continued (Step S26) in a case when the preceding vehicle exists within the prescribed distance ahead of the vehicle 1, and the preceding vehicle is decelerated or stopped (NO in the Step S25) at a time when the brake is shifted OFF.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
