The present invention relates a vehicle radio system and a method for switching a radio frequency thereof, which can search for an optimal radio broadcasting frequency by using a two-turner diversity system. A vehicle radio system according to the present invention includes a tuner including a main tuner and a sub-tuner for receiving first and second radio broadcasting signals, respectively; a signal processing unit for demodulating the first and second radio broadcasting signals to analyze patterns; and a microcomputer for monitoring reception sensitivity of the first radio broadcasting signal received through the main tuner, for allowing the signal processing unit to analyze the pattern of a second radio broadcasting signal received by the sub-tuner, of which the receiving sensitivity is equal to or greater than a reference value, when the receiving sensitivity of the first radio broadcasting signal is less than the reference value, and for automatically switching the tuned frequency of the main tuner to the frequency of the second radio broadcasting signal when the second broadcasting signal is identical to the first radio broadcasting signal as the pattern analyzing result. |
