PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive liquid crystal alignment agent and a liquid crystal composition that can align liquid crystal molecules in the vertical direction with respect to a substrate, and a liquid crystal display device using them.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal alignment agent of the present invention comprises a random copolymer including a constitutional unit derived from a liquid crystal monomer. A liquid crystal composition of the present invention includes a liquid crystal component and the liquid crystal alignment agent. A liquid crystal display device of the present invention is a liquid crystal display device having a liquid crystal layer held between a pair of substrates, and the liquid crystal layer is the liquid crystal composition.SELECTED DRAWING: None
