PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion estimation method and device, capable of counting an unspecified large number of pedestrians stably and accurately easily, regardless of a camera installation place, in scenes of indoor and outdoor.SOLUTION: A motion estimation device takes a time-series image and moving image acquired from a camera, or a sensor, then stores the image data in a data accumulation part 121. Then a user draws a line segment which is reference of comings and goings of people with a line segment setting part 122, to the image data stored in the data accumulation part. A same line segment is used to the time-series image which has a composition same to that of the image used when drawing the line segment. Image feature amounts related to brightness, texture and the like of the image stored in the data accumulation part, are detected by a state detection part 123. The respective image feature amounts in the vicinity of the line segment detected by the state detection part are incorporated to an object function described in the following, then the object function is calculated by a minimum value calculation part 124 as minimization problem, for determining how many pixel blocks having movement speed corresponding to respective pedestrians, exist on the line segment.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
