PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain: an epoxy resin excellent in low melt viscosity and solvent solubility; an epoxy resin composition excellent in heat resistance and fracture toughness; a prepreg; and a fiber reinforced composite material having sufficient heat resistance and strength.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing an oxazolidone ring-containing epoxy resin (A), which comprises: a step 1 of mixing a glycidyl compound (α) represented by a specific formula (1) and a catalyst in a reactor to obtain a mixture; and a step 2 of adding an isocyanate compound (β) represented by a specific formula (2) to the mixture obtained in the step 1 over 100 to 240 minutes while controlling the temperature in the reactor in the range of 145°C to 175°C.SELECTED DRAWING: None
