PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head, and a magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus which are capable of being reproduced by a preamplifier system, being reduced in size, and are less susceptible to the outside, and a manufacturing method of the magnetic head.SOLUTION: The magnetic head comprises a three-terminal non-local spin valve element and a slider. The three-terminal non-local spin valve element comprises: a non-magnetic base layer 10; a first terminal having a first magnetic layer bonded to the vicinity of one end face in a direction where the non-magnetic base layer extends and having a variable magnetization direction; a second terminal including a second magnetic layer that is apart from the first terminal and has a fixed magnetization direction; and a third terminal including a third magnetic layer that is apart from the first terminal, provided apart from the second terminal, and fixed antiparallel to the magnetization direction of the second magnetic layer. The slider comprises: a first external lead terminal connected to the first terminal; a second external lead terminal connected to the second terminal; and a third external terminal connected to the third terminal. In operation, first electric current is conducted from the second external lead terminal through the second terminal and the non-magnetic base layer to the third terminal, and a second electric current smaller than the first electric current is conducted to the first terminal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 |
