PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate manufacturing method and an agitating device capable of reducing foreign matters mixed into a glass substrate.SOLUTION: An agitating device used in a glass substrate manufacturing method comprises: an agitator which is formed of a material comprising a platinum group metal and includes an agitation vessel formed of a material comprising a platinum group metal, a vessel cover installed above the agitation vessel, a shaft having a projection part projecting upward from the vessel cover, and a blade mounted to the shaft; a heat resistant member that is installed outside the agitation vessel and forms a heating space installed with the agitation vessel therein; a plurality of heating parts which are installed in a place outside the agitation vessel in the heating space; and a holding member that is installed on the projection part and holds a foreign matter formed by condensation of volatile substances including volatile platinum group metal or glass material. The holding member is installed on the projection part inside the heating space at a position where temperature becomes not less than the condensation temperature of the volatile substances.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
