PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent inter-bias electrode interference between adjacent waveguide type optical elements in an optical control element in which a plurality of waveguide type optical elements are integrated.SOLUTION: The optical control element comprises: a substrate (102) having an electrochemical effect; a plurality of optical waveguides (122a, 122b, 124a, 124b) formed on the substrate; RF electrodes (134a, 134b) for controlling a light wave propagating along the optical waveguides; first ground electrodes (140, 142, 144) disposed separately from the RF electrodes; and DC bias electrodes (130a, 130b, 132a, 132b) for applying a DC voltage. On both sides in the extension direction of the DC bias electrodes there exist second and third ground electrodes, the second and third ground electrodes being connected so as to cover the DC bias electrodes via a space above the substrate (146).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
