PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical laminate and a composite polarizing plate that can improve luminance when viewed from an oblique direction and can suppress a change in hue when a visible direction is changed, and a liquid crystal display device using the composite polarizing plate.SOLUTION: There are provided an optical laminate including a reflection type polarizing plate formed by drawing a multilayer laminate comprising a plurality of thin films having different refractive index anisotropies and a phase difference plate laminated thereon, where the reflection type polarizing plate has both an orthogonal transmittance Tx (530) at a wavelength of 530 nm and an orthogonal transmittance Tx (590) at a wavelength of 590 nm of 5% or less, and the phase difference plate has an in-plane phase difference value at a wavelength of 590 nm of 90 to 200 nm and a thickness direction phase difference value of 70 to 200 nm; a composite polarizing plate including the optical laminate and an absorption type polarizing plate; and a liquid crystal display device using the composite polarizing plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
