The present invention provides a polarizing plate for preventing display smudges and light leakage and a liquid crystal display device having the polarizing plate. The polarizing plate has a first protection film on a light source side of a polarizer. A thickness of the polarizer is equal to or thinner than 15 μm. A logarithmic contact angle on the outermost surface of the light source side of the polarizer is equal to or smaller than 100º. In case of thermal treatment at 85ºC for 100 hours, a dimension change rate (S) of the polarizer is -1.4 <= S <= 0.0 wherein S is ((dimension after thermal treatment - dimension before thermal treatment) x 100) / dimension before thermal treatment. |
