PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet width alignment apparatus which is excellent in operability and can reduce skew of sheets.SOLUTION: A sheet width alignment apparatus 31 comprises a lifting tray 32 capable of placing sheets thereon, and a pair of guide parts 34a, 34b, which is provided on the lifting tray, can move in a width direction of the sheets respectively, and restricts the width-direction movement of the sheets placed on the lifting tray. The pair of guide parts moves so as to open and close an interval while interlocking with a pair of racks 36a, 36b connected to the pair of guide parts respectively, and a pinion 41 which is supported rotatably on a shaft part 46 protruding from the lifting tray, and engages with the pair of racks. The pinion and the pair of racks have helical teeth, respectively. The shaft part 46 has an inclination part inclined so that the outer diameter of the shaft part decreases from the base end part to the tip part. The pinion moves to the base end part side of the shaft part 46 by moving the pair of guide parts in an opening direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
