PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment dispersion excellent in storage stability and a production method thereof, and a coloring composition, an ink composition, and an inkjet recording method using the aqueous pigment dispersion.SOLUTION: A production method of an aqueous pigment dispersion comprises: a step a for dispersing an azo pigment expressed by the formula 1 or tautomer thereof, and a first dispersant in water to acquire an aqueous pigment dispersion A; a step b for dispersing the azo pigment expressed by the formula 1 or tautomer thereof, and a second dispersant in water to acquire an aqueous pigment dispersion B; and a step c for mixing the aqueous pigment dispersion A and the aqueous pigment dispersion B to acquire an aqueous pigment dispersion.SELECTED DRAWING: None
