PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of collecting into a development device toner attached to a charging member and charged with a polarity opposite to a normal polarity by sufficiently charging the toner with the normal polarity.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 that collects into a development device 4 by a development member 41 toner left on an image carrier 1 after transfer of a toner image includes a control part 150 that makes a charging member 2 execute a cleaning operation thereof during non-image formation. In the cleaning operation, the control part 150 makes the image carrier 1 rotate while making the toner attached to the charging member 2 and charged with a polarity opposite to a normal polarity electrostatically move from the charging member 2 to the image carrier 1, makes the toner having moved pass a development part c with the toner electrostatically pressed in a direction from the development member 41 toward the image carrier 1, reverses the charging polarity of the toner having passed to the normal polarity at a charging part a, and makes the toner having the charging polarity reversed electrostatically move at the development part c from the image carrier 1 to the development member 41 to make the development device 4 collect the toner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
