The present invention relates to a display device using an MEMS element and a manufacturing method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the display device including an MEMS element includes: a first substrate and a second substrate which face each other; a reflective layer which is formed on the first substrate and has a first opening unit; a transparent layer which covers the first opening unit; and an MEMS element which includes a shutter formed on the second substrate. When the refractive index of the transparent layer is a first refractive index and the refractive index of the first substrate is a second refractive index, the difference between the first refractive index and the second refractive index is equal to or less than 0.1.
