Provided is an emulsion-type sunscreen cosmetic having a property not present in the prior art, of improved UV protection due to contact with water and/or sweat compared to directly after application, and which is also pleasant to use and easy to wash off. The present invention pertains to an emulsion-type sunscreen cosmetic containing 5-40 mass % of a UV protection agent (A) (UV absorber and/or UV scattering agent) and an oil phase thickening agent (B), wherein the light absorbance after a film formed by applying said cosmetic comes into contact with moisture is higher than the light absorbance before coming into contact with moisture.
