Provided is an induction heat cooking apparatus which heats one object-of-heating by using a plurality of heating coils, of a heating coil group, which are positioned below the object-of-heating, wherein the apparatus has a configuration in which the position of the object-of-heating placed on a top plate is detected by a control device, and the control device can display the detected position of the object-of-heating on a display screen as an icon, detect whether a user has selected the icon, and if the icon was selected, begin induction heating. The configuration of the induction heat cooking apparatus is as follows: because the display screen is provided with a detection electrode which is located below the top plate and which is for detecting whether the object-of-heating has drawn near to the display screen, the control device detects, by means of the detection electrode, that the object-of-heating has drawn abnormally near to the display screen, and by performing a prescribed corrective action, the control device can preemptively prevent overheating of the display screen due to the object-of-heating drawing near to the display screen.
