The invention relates to a method for deep discharge protection for battery packs having cell groups connected in series for secure suppression of the deep discharge of the battery pack by reversing the polarity of an individual, weakest cell, characterized in that there is a temporally repeated difference measurement step for detecting an event indicating a probable reversing of polarity of a weakest cell in which the temporal change in the voltage difference between two numerically equal or unequal cell groups is examined for exceeding the amount of a difference threshold, which securely differentiates between a temporally fast reversing of polarity of an individual weakest cell in exactly one cell group from the temporally slow fluctuation of the voltage difference between two cell groups during a routine discharge characteristic curve without reversing the polarity of an individual weakest cell. The invention further relates to a battery pack and to a battery-powered machine tool having a control circuit for carrying out the method. |
