MOTOR DRIVE SYSTEM USING CONSTANT CURRENT CONTROL

A motor drive system using constant current control, said motor drive system comprising a constant current control circuit which performs constant current control on a commutation circuit that supplies/blocks current from a DC constant current power source to coils of a motor. The commutation circuit comprises: on/off switches which supply or block DC constant current sequentially and at a prescribed timing to the coils of each phase; and recovery diodes which are connected to the positive electrode terminal side of the DC constant current power source from points connecting the negative electrode sides of the coils of each phase to the on/off switches. The constant current control circuit causes the commutation circuit to operate in a manner such that residual magnetic energy of excitation coils is recovered and reused during the commutation operation by being superposed onto the subsequently excited coils via the recovery diodes.
