Provided is a technology for more easily and cheaply detecting an undeleted provirus. A marker that contains an almost full-length HIV provirus and indicates the pathology of HIV. A method for examining HIV pathology, said method involving evaluating the amount of an almost full-length HIV provirus within HIV-infected cells. A method for examining the efficacy of anti-HIV drugs, said method involving evaluating the amount of an almost full-length HIV provirus within HIV-infected cells. A method for screening drugs that are capable of functionally treating HIV, said method involving evaluating the amount of an almost full-length HIV provirus within HIV-infected cells. A method for evaluating the amount of an almost full-length HIV provirus within HIV-infected cells by detecting a region of 3-7 points interspersed along the full-length of the HIV provirus. Also provided is a kit for evaluating the amount of an almost full-length HIV provirus, said kit including a primer capable of amplifying a region of 3-7 points interspersed along the full-length of the HIV provirus, and a probe capable of detecting nucleic acids that have been amplified by the primer. |
