Provided is a medium handling device, comprising: a stage which vertically stacks a rectangular medium; and a liquid spray mechanism comprising a plurality of liquid spray nozzles which is disposed extended vertically, and which sprays a liquid upon the medium which is stacked upon the upper face of the stage. The plurality of liquid spray nozzles is respectively disposed in locations facing at least three lateral edges of the stacked medium. Each of the plurality of liquid spray nozzles is positioned to spray the liquid upon the facing lateral edge thereof at a prescribed spray angle.
