The purpose of the present invention is to provide an electrolyte solution which uses a quaternary ammonium salt as the electrolyte salt, and which is capable of providing an electrochemical device that has high capacity retention rate and is not susceptible to the generation of a gas. The present invention is an electrolyte solution which contains a solvent, a quaternary ammonium salt and an unsaturated cyclic compound containing a nitrogen atom, and which is characterized in that the unsaturated cyclic compound is an unsaturated heterocyclic compound containing a nitrogen atom. In this connection, the unsaturated cyclic compound does not include a salt of the unsaturated cyclic compound and an ionic liquid that is obtained from the unsaturated cyclic compound. |
