The purpose of the present invention is to provide an artificial respirator capable of preventing an alveolar collapse and improving ventilation efficiency. A control unit (10) of the artificial respirator includes a set ratio storage means (14), an expiratory tidal volume determination means (15), an inhalation start point determination means (16), and a valve opening/closing instruction means (17). An inhalation start point is determined for one breathing cycle according to the expiratory tidal volume determined by the expiratory tidal volume determination means (15), and an inhalation valve (4) and an exhalation valve (5) are actuated, whereby a dPEEP is inferred according to an expiratory flow waveform, and inhalation is intentionally started at a point at which the dPEEP appears. |
