The system (10) has a detector (16) receiving a signal emitted by a diffusing medium (12) upon illumination by a pulsed radiation source (14). A processing unit processes time distribution of a signal for a source-detector pair. Another detector (22) measures signal intensity corresponding to equivalent moment of order 0 for a source-latter detector pair. A computing unit (62) computes a base parameter by combining characteristic magnitude of the distribution with intensity measured for the source-latter detector pair and reconstructs optical properties from the parameter. The detector is formed of set of pixels from an image sensor (18) e.g. charge-coupled device (CCD) sensor or a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor. The detectors are respectively time resolved detector and non-time-resolved detector. An independent claim is also included for a method for reconstructing optical properties of a diffusing medium. |
