The present invention not only widens the choice of materials to be used for coating the surface of particulate burnt lime in order to prevent the particulate burnt lime from abruptly generating heat or generating intense heat, but also can more reliably prevent the coated burnt lime particles from abruptly generating heat or generating intense heat, thereby further improving the safety. Provided as a drying agent including coated burnt lime particles and having improved performance is a drying agent which comprises coated burnt lime particles obtained by coating the surface of particulate burnt lime with a higher alcohol or higher fatty acid and, mixed therewith, a water-absorbing powder such as a clay mineral, e.g., bentonite. |
