Disclosed herein are methods for dehydrogenation of alkanes to olefins by co-injecting the alkane feed with hydrogen. The present methods provide the improved feed conversion, desired product selectivity, total olefins in product stream, and lower catalyst deactivation rate.

1. A method for dehydrogenation of an alkane comprising:
(a) co-injecting a hydrogen feed stream with a hydrocarbon feed stream comprising at least one C2 to C5 alkane into a non-membrane dehydrogenation catalytic reactor comprising a chromium-based catalyst or platinum-based catalyst; and (b) producing at least one dehydrogenated alkane product; wherein the reactor is run under substantially non-oxidative conditions.
