When engagement of a lockup clutch is initiated, coupling of the lockup clutch is initiated in a state where a working fluid amount is sufficiently ensured by setting a condition that an engine rotation speed is higher than or equal to a limit engine rotation speed. Thus, it is possible to prevent rapid engagement of the lockup clutch. Here, the limit engine rotation speed is appropriately determined on the basis of a line pressure, and it is possible to reduce a delay of coupling of the lockup clutch by ensuring the working fluid amount while preventing rapid engagement of the lockup clutch. |

1. A vehicle comprising:
a driving source; a drive wheel; a fluid transmission device provided in a power transmission path between the driving source and the drive wheel; an oil pump configured to operate with rotation of the driving source; a lockup clutch configured to selectively directly couple input and output sides of the fluid transmission device; the lockup clutch configured such that:
i) working fluid is supplied to an engaging-side hydraulic chamber and a releasing-side hydraulic chamber of the lockup clutch by using a hydraulic pressure of the working fluid that is discharged from the oil pump as a source pressure,ii) the working fluid is supplied to the releasing-side hydraulic chamber when the lockup clutch is released, andiii) the working fluid is supplied to the engaging-side hydraulic chamber when engagement of the lockup clutch is initiated; and an electronic control unit configured to: (a) initiate engagement of the lockup clutch when a working fluid amount that is supplied to the releasing-side hydraulic chamber has reached a predetermined value or larger, and (b) determine the predetermined value on the basis of a hydraulic pressure of the working fluid flowing through a fluid passage that communicates with the oil pump. |
