1. A method for preparing a latex emulsion from a resin comprising:
a) combining a surfactant with a lactate ester to form a dispersion, wherein said lactate ester is biodegradable; b) mixing the dispersion with a resin until a homogenous mixture forms; and c) combining the homogenous mixture with water to hydrolyze said lactate ester and to form a latex emulsion.
