Turn-Compensating Agricultural Material Spreader System

A system and method of automatically adjusting an amount of agricultural granular material delivered to a field in response to vehicle steering activities. The system includes a sensor that is associated with a steering system of a vehicle configured to apply the material to a field. The sensor is connected to a controller that is configured to determine a deviation value associated with discrete turning activities. The controller is configured to manipulate operation of a first commodity delivery system and a second commodity delivery system such that different amounts of the agricultural material can he delivered to alternate lateral sides of the vehicle in response to turning activities.

1. A system for automatically manipulating application distribution of agricultural materials, the system comprising:
a sensor associated with a steering system of a vehicle configured to apply a commodity to a field; a controller configured to receive a signal from the sensor and determine a deviation value associated with a difference between a turning direction of travel and a straight direction of travel associated with operation of the vehicle; the controller being configured to communicate with a first commodity delivery system that extends longitudinally along a first lateral side of the vehicle and a second commodity delivery system that extends longitudinally along a second lateral side of the vehicle, each of the first and second commodity delivery systems being in communication with a common commodity container and supported by the vehicle; and the controller being configured to manipulate operation of the first commodity delivery system and the second commodity delivery system to deliver different amounts of the commodity to the field via the first commodity delivery system and the second commodity delivery system if the deviation value exceeds a threshold.
