A method for generating a natural language question for a given input text, e.g. Susan put the flowerpot on the windowsill comprising: parsing said input text using a minimal recursion semantics (MRS) generating grammar to obtain minimal recursion semantics (MRS) representation of the input text; transforming (S220), by semantic role labelling, said input text into at least one semantic association of a verb (e.g. put) and semantic arguments of said verb (e.g. Susan, flowerpot, windowsill) the semantic arguments being fragments of said input text; receiving a question type (e.g. where, which place) for at least one verb/semantic argument association ; transforming (S150) the MRS representation of the input text into a MRS representation of one or more questions based on said semantic association and the respective question types; generating (S160) at least one question (e.g. Where did Susan put the flowerpot?) based on the MRS representation of the question by using said MRS generating grammar. |
