An electricity generating turbine comprises reclaimed / salvaged washing machine components. A support is mounted across the door opening of the housing 14, and supports a turbine shaft via bearings. The bearings may be the drum bearings, and the turbine may use the washing machine drum 16 as a hub. The generator may comprise a recycled motor from a microwave, lawnmower or drill. Various types of turbine or waterwheel are proposed, possibly using guttering, or washing-up bowls as turbine blades, or a swinging flap type using disused conveyor belt material. The turbine may be a wind or water turbine, and the housing 14 may be made buoyant to allow it to float in a watercourse. |
