A mechanism for use in an aerosol dispensing device 100 comprises: a first member 191 for supporting a power supply 192; a second member 120 for supporting an aerosol generator 130; and a resilient biasing member 150. The first member 191 is provided with electrical contacts for the power supply 192 and the second member 120 is provided with electrical contacts for the aerosol generator 130. The second member 120 is connected to the first member 191 such that the second member is movable relative the first member between at least one operating position and a storage position. The resilient biasing member 150 is arranged to bias opposed surfaces of the first and second members together; and/or bias the second member towards either the operating or storage position. Preferably the aerosol dispensing device 100 is an electronic cigarette. Also claimed is a mechanism wherein when the second member is disposed in the at least one operating position an electrically conducting portion of the first contact surface contacts an electrically conducting portion of the second contact surface. In another embodiment the mechanism comprises a locking mechanism having open and locked configurations. |
