A laser oscillation device comprises a light emitting unit 2 for projecting a pump laser beam 4, a laser medium 5 for absorbing the pump laser beam 4 and for emitting a spontaneous emission light beam 12, a saturable absorber 6 for absorbing the spontaneous emission light and for emitting a pulsed light beam 9, and a holder 14,15 holding the laser medium 5 in close contact with it, wherein a portion of the holder appressed onto at least one surface of the laser medium 5 is made of a metal and the pump laser beam 4 is projected onto an edge portion of the laser medium 5 appressed onto the holder.
