The present disclosure relates to a 5G or pre-5G communication system which will be provided to support a higher data transfer rate after a 4G communication system, such as LTE. The present disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for processing of vector quantized feedback components and vector quantization of feedback. A method for operating a terminal for vector quantization of feedback components comprises the processes of: computing channel coefficients based on at least one channel measurement, and grouping the channel coefficients according to a grouping method. The method also comprises the processes of: performing vector quantization on the grouped channel coefficients by using at least one codebook, and transmitting a feedback signal including information about the quantized channel coefficients to a base station.
