A base assembly 12 for a working machine 10 comprising: a ground engaging structure 19; an undercarriage 12 connected to the ground engaging structure 19; a connector 16 for connecting the undercarriage 12 to a superstructure 14 that mounts a working arm 42; a drive arrangement located in the undercarriage 12 for moving the ground engaging structure 19 to propel, in use, the working machine 10, wherein the drive arrangement includes a prime mover 64 and a transmission 75; and an electronic control unit (ECU) for controlling the drive arrangement and/or the ground engaging structure.. Wherein the majority of the drive arrangement may be positioned below a level coincident with a lower extent of the superstructure 14. Also disclosed is a method of making the above working machine 10, the method comprises: providing substantially identical base assemblies 12 as above; connecting one superstructure 14 with one type of working arm 42 to one of the base assemblies 12 and connecting a different superstructure 14 with a different working arm 42 to another base assembly 12. |
