An automatic multi-functional pencil sharpener 10 comprising a pencil sharpener mechanism, a power docking station 40 with at least one charging port, and an electrical power unit connected to an external power source and comprising control circuits to communicate with said docking station and said sharpener mechanism. The docking station may comprise USB ports and the housing may have an LED light 42 to indicate the status of the sharpener mechanism or the power consumption by the docking station whilst charging a mobile device, such as a mobile phone or tablet. One of the ports may support a charge of approximately 2.1 amperes. The control circuit connected to the docking station may further comprise an integrated circuit for controlling a USB charging port and have a power switch with load detection. |
