The present invention relates to the preparation of a hydrophilic antioxidant comprising a methyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate group / poly alkylene glycol bridge group / carboxylic acid group, which has low volatility and high water solubility, and also has a surfactant (emulsifier) characteristic which is useful in the industrial application of oil-soluble antioxidants in aqueous phase systems.
