The present invention relates to a photonic crystal display device which displays specific colors, images and information by a method of controlling a potential difference of each unit cell of a photonic crystal display device panel, not by a method of controlling intensity of an applied voltage. The photonic crystal display device of the present invention includes: a first electrode and a second electrode which are arranged separately from each other, and can be applied with a voltage; photonic crystal particles whose interval or arrangement can be changed in response to intensity and direction of an electric field formed by the applied voltage, so as to reflect an incident light at a specific wavelength; and a medium which is intervened between the first electrode and the second electrode, and wherein the photonic crystal particles can be dispersed. The intensity of the applied voltage has one equal level, and the intensity of the electric field formed by the applied voltage has at least two different levels.
