Disclosed are a portable height measuring apparatus and a height measuring method using the same. The height measuring method for a user in a portable height measuring apparatus comprises the steps of: detecting that the portable height measuring apparatus is perpendicular or parallel to the direction of gravity according to a height measurement posture of the user; recognizing to be ready for height measurement if the portable height measuring apparatus is confirmed to be perpendicular or parallel to the direction of gravity; emitting a signal for distance measurement to the ground or the bottom by using a distance measurement sensor, if perpendicular; emitting a signal for distance measurement to a preset reflective surface by using the distance measurement sensor, if parallel; and determining the height of the user in a processor unit of the portable height measuring apparatus based on a measured value of the distance measurement sensor. By displaying readiness for height measurement by detecting that the portable height measuring apparatus is perpendicular or parallel to the direction of gravity, the present invention can precisely measure the height of a user. |
