The present invention relates to a composition for treating cardiovascular diseases, which comprises hispidin as an active ingredient. More particularly, the present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating cardiovascular diseases, which comprises, as an active ingredient, hispidin having an anti-oxidative activity capable of inhibiting apoptosis of cardiovascular muscle cells caused by active oxygen species. According to the present invention, hispidin having no cytotoxicity and showing anti-oxidative activity is used to inhibit apoptosis of myocardial cells caused by active oxygen species. In addition, the pharmaceutical composition for treating cardiovascular diseases comprising hispidin as an active ingredient is used to effectively treat various diseases including cardiovascular diseases caused by active oxygen species. |
