A method and an apparatus for managing User Equipment (UE) history information are provided. The method for managing user equipment history information in a wireless communication network includes determining if a recording event occurs when the user equipment enters into an idle mode; recording information about the recording event in idle mode user equipment history information when the recording event occurs; and transmitting the recorded idle mode user equipment history information to a base station when the user equipment accesses the base station.

1. A method for logging cell related information by a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising the steps of:
logging the cell related information, including at least one cell identifier (ID) of at least one cell which the UE visited and time information on a duration of stay in the at least one cell, in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) idle mode; receiving a request for the logged cell related information from a base station; and reporting the logged cell related information to the base station in response to the request in an RRC connected mode.
