The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for self-driving, which comprises: an image output unit outputting a face image of a vehicle driver; a filter unit processing the image through a high-frequency filter; a histogram extraction unit extracting a histogram of the image processed through the high-frequency filter; an image determination unit determining whether there is an exceptional image of the image considering the extracted histogram; and a self-driving unit enabling the vehicle to be automatically driven when the image is the exceptional image.
