An internal combustion engine comprising: an engine control, a source for gaseous fuel, at least one combustion chamber in which the gaseous fuel is ignited, and an electromagnetically actuated gas injector arranged between the source for the gaseous fuel and the at least one combustion chamber, wherein at least one moment in time at which the gas injector should be in a closed end position the engine control applies an electric test voltage to the gas injector, measures the discharge current caused by the electric test voltage and thus draws a conclusion about the existence of the closed end position of the gas injector. |
