The present invention provides a technology for performing recording operations in a memory device configured by an array of memory cells. A word line driver circuit is used to activate a memory cell addressed in the array by asserting a word line signal. A recording driver circuit is used to perform a recording operation to record a data value in the addressed memory cell and perform a recording assist mechanism by responding to an assertion of a recording assist enable signal during the recording operation. Moreover, a control circuit is used to control an assertion timing of the word line signal depending on an assertion timing of the recording assist enable signal. The assertion timing of the word line signal is allowed to be dependent on the assertion timing of the recording assist enable signal, thereby considerably improving recording ability of the memory cells. |
