Provided are a spacer for a secondary battery, which maintains an appropriate interval between adjacent secondary battery cells or between a secondary battery cell and a case, thereby providing an available space in which a secondary battery cell is expandable and accelerating heat dissipation, and a secondary battery including the same. The spacer for a secondary battery comprises: a rod portion which linearly extends in one horizontal direction; and a pair of extension end portions which extend from both ends of the rod portion in a widthwise direction of the rod portion. Both side surfaces of the rod portion in the widthwise direction contact a pair of opposite side surfaces of a pair of the secondary battery cells, and an inner surface of each of the extension end portions contacts one side surface of the secondary battery cell which is adjacent to the other side surface of the secondary battery cell which contacts the rod portion.
