A method of estimating a muzzle distance according to an embodiment comprises: a detection step of sensing, by a sensing unit, an atmospheric pressure, and a muzzle blast wave and a bullet shock wave with a microphone array; a detection step of detecting, by a detection unit, an incidence angle (&thgr;_S ′) of the muzzle blast wave relative to an array line of the microphone array, an incidence angle (&thgr;_M′) of the bullet shock wave relative to the array line of the microphone array, and a Mach angle (&thgr;_M) of the bullet shock wave; and a calculation step of calculating, by a calculation unit, cos(&thgr;_M+(&thgr;_S′-&thgr;_M′)), the cosine value of the sum of the Mach angle (&thgr;_M′) and the difference (&thgr;_S′- &thgr;_M′) between the incidence angle (&thgr;_M′) of the bullet shock wave and the incidence angle (&thgr;_M′) of the bullet shock wave, and calculating the muzzle distance (D) by dividing a muzzle perpendicular distance (X) by the cosine value cos(&thgr;_M+(&thgr;_S′-&thgr;_M′)), wherein the muzzle perpendicular distance (X) is calculated by using the Mach angle (&thgr;_M′), a signal waveform of the bullet shock wave, and the atmospheric pressure. |
