The method involves detecting an over flight path of a spot by an aircraft, and carrying out an over flight of the spot by the aircraft based on the path. Signals and data delivered by an embarked laser range finder (28) that observes a space portion extending under the aircraft, are recorded during the over flight. The data are analyzed for detecting the presence of obstacles, and the position/dimension of the obstacles in a terrestrial mark are determined. The determined position/dimension is recorded in a memory (26). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling an aircraft proximity to a spot (2) a system for assisting landing and take-off of an aircraft in a spot (3) a program on a support readable by a computer of an aircraft. |
