654,702. Control of several motors. WARNER & SWASEY CO. June 4, 1948, No. 15105. Convention date, June 4. 1947. [Class 38(iii)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIV] In an automatic turret lathe, (see Group XXII), four electric motors 42, 171, 192 and 283, the last three of which are reversible, drive the gear-trains and a fifth 406 drives a clutch-operating hydraulic pump, not shown, and a generator 407. The main motor 42 is started by closing the main switch D.S. and depressing a push-button to close contactors MM-1 to 3. Actuation of a hand-switch starts the motor 406. The motors 171, 192 and 283, which provide fast idle-speeds for two cross-slides and a turret-slide, are actuated either by pushbuttons or automatically by cams and dogdrums, which open or close contacts in circuits supplied by the lines 431, 432 and the D.C. lines 411, 412. If the pressure supplied by the pump falls below a certain amount, a switch is actuated to cut-off power to all motors except 406. |
