The invention relates to a microwave applicator with integrated detector area for temperature measurement, meant to be used in medical, industrial or scientific applications. According to the invention, the microwave applicator comprises a multilayer structure containing a double conducting layer (1) representing the applicator which generates microwave radiation, a fibre glass electrically insulating layer (2) with the function of mechanical alignment for the electronic components embedded in the next layer, a thermal reference layer (3) containing Peltier elements (8) and electronic control circuits thereof, a contactless temperature measurement layer (4) using an area of thermal cells (7) or equivalent devices and a last conducting layer (5) with the function of optical diaphragm for the thermal cells and of grounding plane for the microwave radiation, the whole assembly being encased in a box (16) with conducting walls. The electronic control circuits for both the Peltier elements and the thermal cells communicate with a personal computer (PC) by means of an insulated USB interface. |
