A work station for use in a system for medical dose preparation management includes a base and a medication preparation staging region disposed relative to the base, an imaging device having an imaging field encompassing at least a portion of the medication preparation staging region and located at least partially within a housing, wherein the imaging field extends through an opening of the housing; and a light source in the housing operable to emit light from the housing in a direction toward the medication preparation staging region. A transparent shield located between the imaging device and the medication preparation staging region covers at least a portion of the imaging device corresponding to at least a lens of the imaging device. A first polarization filter is disposed between the imaging device and the medication preparation staging region. A support member extends between the base and the housing for supportably disposing the imaging device and the light source relative to the base.
