The present invention provides a magnetic body holding device capable of obtaining a strong holding force by controlling a flow of magnetism from a permanent magnet, and maximizing a holding force under a unit volume. According to the present invention, the magnetic body holding device comprises: a first pole piece assembly including a first N-pole piece, a first S-pole piece, and a first permanent magnet; a second pole piece assembly including a second N-pole piece, a second S-pole piece, and a second permanent magnet; a third pole piece assembly including a third N-pole piece, a third S-pole piece, and a third permanent magnet; a fourth pole piece assembly including a fourth N-pole piece, a fourth S-pole piece, and a fourth permanent magnet; a coil wound on one among the pole pieces and the first N-pole piece; and a control device controlling a current applied to the coil. Two or more among the first pole piece assembly, the second pole piece assembly, the third pole piece assembly, and the fourth pole piece assembly is able to move such that a first arrangement and a second arrangement are changed. In the first arrangement, the second pole piece assembly is in contact with the third pole piece assembly, and the first pole piece assembly is separated from the second pole piece assembly. In the first arrangement, the third pole piece assembly is separated from the fourth pole piece assembly. In the second arrangement, the first pole piece assembly is in contact with the second pole piece assembly, and the third pole piece assembly is in contact with the fourth pole piece assembly. In the second arrangement, the second pole piece assembly is separated from the third pole piece assembly. The control device controls a current applied to the coil to cause a change between the first arrangement and the second arrangement, thereby controlling holding and releasing of an object to be attached. |
